Come on, farm my yard!

The SBB (SeedBombBlog!) is also a place to introduce BiodiverCity activists.
For the first interview, I'm glad to welcome Albert, from Farm My Yard.
Albert answered few questions...

Could you tell me who you are & where you are?

Albert Kaufman, Portland, Oregon, The United States

When did you create the farm my yard project and why?

I started the project in 2011 – I think that more urban farming could lead to a revolution in how we live. Imagine if every bit of lawn were turned over to food production. It would reduce the amount of shipping needed, re-teach people about growing food, build community, help people to get healthier physically – and that’s just the start.

Could you explain what farm my yard is?

Farm My Yard is a system to connect urban farmers with people who have land to farm. This can work in the suburbs, as well. A homeowner puts a sign in their yard: Farm My Yard?  Someone who lives in an apartment or just likes to grow food comes along like a bee to a flower and a new relationship is formed. That relationship could take many forms – so I antiticipate many beautiful stories and relationships will occur over time.

How did you discover seedbomb.net ?

**I believe you found me :)  And wrote to me. (That's true! I found the farm my yard project and send an email because I knew FMY has to be on seedbomb.net!!)

What do you think of "BiodiverCity"?

Anything that gets us to move towards growing our food locally is good in my book!

Thanks Albert!

Here is his page, his website, and the facebook page.
